World AIDS Day Promoting Better Outcomes

worldaidsday-van

World AIDS Day has been observed every year on December 1 since 1988. This worldwide effort draws people together in solidarity to pay tribute to the millions of people living with HIV/AIDS, raise awareness of the global impact of HIV/AIDS, and celebrate victories that are allowing more people to live longer and healthier lives.

About 1.2 million people are living with HIV in the U.S. with about one in five of those that are unaware of their infections. With early diagnosis, individuals can be placed in treatment and care resulting in better health outcomes and prevent further spread of the disease.

Care Resource has demonstrated excellence in the field of HIV/AIDS as it works to fulfill its mission and have a positive impact on Broward and Miami-Dade communities. Our work in the community has earned us the confidence of our clients and funding sources at local, state and federal levels. We provide comprehensive services like HIV Testing, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) testing as well as risk reduction programs and HIV and STDs education.

Venezuela-flagIn addition to testing, the embassy of the Unites States in Venezuela and the Stop HIV Organization in Venezuela has chosen Francisco Gomez, Housing Services Manager with Care Resource to be one of the speakers at the Annual World Aids Day Conference. He is speaking about how a typical Venezuelan lives with the HIV virus. Other topics include prevention, new medications, new HIV treatments, Hepatitis C and the medications that are being developed to treat it.

Moreover, he will be presenting to the press and other non-profit organizations that provide similar services as Care Resource.  According to Gomez, “This honor is in recognition for all of the Venezuelans that have come into the agency looking for treatments for HIV and other social services that are required when first arriving to this country.”
