MIAMI, FL. (SEPTEMBER 2016) – Care Resource, a South Florida-based nonprofit organization, along with Churches United for the Prevention of HIV/AIDS, announces the 2nd annual United for Care (U4C) community health fair. This collaborative event will feature a variety of activities for families and the community including, but not limited to free wellness screenings, healthcare navigation, HIV/STI screenings, social work and behavioral health services, spiritual counseling, legal advice, and more! Attendees will enjoy DJ entertainment, as well as, performances by local church singers and choirs. The festivities take place on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Bethel Apostolic Temple (1855 NW 119th St., Miami, FL 33167).

United for Care strives to bring together community resources and those in need to foster healthy decisions and lifestyles, as well as, provide assistance to community members that may be underserved. Participants will be encouraged to visit every station at the fair and complete their “health passport,” which they obtain at registration. Each participant will receive incentives for their participation, and free food will be provided. Additionally, certified application counselors will be available to assist those in learning about the Affordable Care Act (ACA), as open enrollment begins November 1, 2016 and ends on January 31, 2017.

“As the Chairman of Churches United for HIV/AIDS Prevention, we are excited to collaborate with Care Resource in bringing the city-wide Block Party to Miami. Through this collaboration we prayerfully hope to make a huge impact. This will also be a time for families to come out, hear some music, eat some food and be on the pathway to better health. Indeed, it is a community fair like no other,” said Reverend Darryl K. Baxter of Churches United.

“United for Care (U4C) is a great opportunity for residents of Miami-Dade to get tested for HIV and other STI, and learn about services and programs that are free or affordable in their area. People who are uninsured and need medical care will be able to make a doctor’s appointment, and take advantage of a free initial visit with basic labs,” said Ron Ledain, Director of Health Promotion and Linkage Services at Care Resource.
