United for Care strives to bring together community resources and those in need to foster healthy decisions and lifestyles, as well as, provide assistance to community members that may be underserved. Participants will be encouraged to visit every station at the fair and complete their “health passport,” which they obtain at registration. Each participant will receive incentives for their participation, and free food will be provided. Additionally, certified application counselors will be available to assist those in learning about the Affordable Care Act (ACA), as open enrollment begins November 1, 2016 and ends on January 31, 2017.
“As the Chairman of Churches United for HIV/AIDS Prevention, we are excited to collaborate with Care Resource in bringing the city-wide Block Party to Miami. Through this collaboration we prayerfully hope to make a huge impact. This will also be a time for families to come out, hear some music, eat some food and be on the pathway to better health. Indeed, it is a community fair like no other,” said Reverend Darryl K. Baxter of Churches United.
“United for Care (U4C) is a great opportunity for residents of Miami-Dade to get tested for HIV and other STI, and learn about services and programs that are free or affordable in their area. People who are uninsured and need medical care will be able to make a doctor’s appointment, and take advantage of a free initial visit with basic labs,” said Ron Ledain, Director of Health Promotion and Linkage Services at Care Resource.
“Ebenezer United Methodist Church is proud to support U4C. Our congregation strives to move alongside the positive course of history. We always try to liberate all people in all ways. Our church also embraces diversity and is a safe place to worship for all of South Florida’s most diverse communities.” – Carrill S. Munnings, Senior Pastor
