How can we hand over the right size of food
items?
- If it fits in the palm of your
hand,
it is a 2 – 3 ounce size of cooked meat
- If it can fit from the top of your
wrist to the tip if your middle finger, it is a 3 ounce size cooked
fish.
- If it can lay on your thumb and
extend to the bottom or your hand that is the size of a 3 ounce chicken
leg.
- If it can cover your thumb, it is
the size of 2 tablespoons of peanut butter
- Cup your hand and if it does not
fall out that is the size of a ½ cup of rice or potato
- The first notch of your thumb is an
ounce of cheese and butter
- Place
your index and middle finger together. Measuring from the tip to the
bottom of your hand, is the length of a plantain cut
in half.
- How much is too much gravy? If you
have to act like Moses who parted the Red Sea, that is too much.
