Recognition of Excellence in Raising HIV/AIDS Awareness
In Commemoration of National Latino AIDS Awareness Day, the “Latinos en Accion HIV/AIDS Committee” recognized several outstanding individuals that included Care Resource staff for their efforts and excellence in raising HIV/AIDS awareness in the Latino Communities in Broward County.
The awards ceremony took place at the Diversity Night of the NLAAD CELEBRANDO NUESTRA SALUD at the Auditorium at the Florida Health Department in Broward County.
Congratulations to all Leadership Awards recipients:
- Outreach and Prevention – Maite Soria
An outstanding Outreach or prevention specialist working to educate the Hispanic Community of Broward County.
- HIV Care Professional – Diego Rodriguez
A compassionate, professional, caring HIV care specialist, case manager, clerk, counselor or medical professional that makes a difference in the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS.
- Community Support – Care Resource
A group, business, individual that has supported the work of the Latino Committee with time, resources, ideas and by always lending a helping hand.
- The Louis Curbelo Leadership Award – Carlos Ortiz
A long time or emerging leader committed to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS in the Latino community of Broward County.
- Fulgencio Aponte Community Service Award – Nadienka Sanz
Individual that has supported the work of the Latino Committee
Latinos en Acción is an active partnership among the local Organizations, the Broward County Health Department, and concerned citizens. The group is a committed and innovative community organizing initiative established since 2004.
