Holidays are a time of family, food and generosity. The “Food for Life Network” ensures that no child or family should go hungry – especially during this time of the year. This network provides and delivers groceries, meals and nutritional education to eliminate malnutrition and starvation in men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS in Miami Dade County.

ffl-staff1According to Valjean Brookins, Food Services Supervisor with the Food for Life Network, “Right now we serve 511 clients in Miami-Dade County. We see between 30-99 clients a day. This holiday season, we have gotten 45 new clients. During Thanksgiving, with the help of Publix Supermarket, we gave out 30 turkey baskets. Grocery packages are also provided free of charge for our clients and are generally worth Fifty dollars ($50.00). Each one contains seven days’ worth of food, including meat, breakfast foods, staples, vegetables, fruits, starches such as rice and bread, juice and milk. There is still a great need for volunteers. We haven’t gotten any new volunteers from the South Florida community in couple months. So come and help out

Home delivered meals and groceries are also available for those who qualify and can no longer travel easily in the Metro Miami Dade area, Groceries and/or Ready-to-eat meals, frozen meals and breakfast items delivered weekly.
