Administrative Duties:

• Records, prepares and maintains patients chart information into Dentrix, and other datasystem and/or patient’s records as required.
• Ensures patient documentation is fully completed.
• Ensures procedures are recorded accurately on superbills/billing sheets, patient record (hardcopy and electronic-Dentrix) for proper payment.  

 Clinical Duties:

• Delivers direct dental care to patients as assigned.
• Assesses patient’s dental conditions and needs by reviewing medical/dental history.
• Records and reports pertinent observations as it relates to patient’s oral healthcare.
• Records dental history or chief complaint in
• Assist with taking and recording patient’s vitals at every visit.
• Performs various dental procedures (i.e. prophylaxis, radiographs, topical anesthesia, topical flouride treatment application, placement of pit and tissue sealants, placement of perio dressings, removal of perio dressings, and suture removal).
• Prepares (makes) impression of patients’ teeth for study casts when required.
• Assists the dentist with discharge planning of patients.
• Performs scaling and root planning, soft tissue curettage and study case impressions.
• Assists with the the development and implementation of individualized dental care plans,
• Provides and documents patient education (i.e. oral health, smoking cessation and nutrition).
• Assists dentist in performing special test, procedures and complex treatments.   

 Quality Assurance/Compliance Duties:

• Ensures that dental operations fully comply with Agency and HIPAA requirements.
• Participates in quality assurance activities for compliance.
• Ensures that on-line trainings are current as required (Netsmart and other trainings).
• Participates in agency developmental activities as requested.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in related field is required. At least two years of experience in clinical work with HIV-infected persons are required. Florida State License as Registered Dental Hygienist is required. Biomedical Waste and OSHA certifications are required. Bilingual (English-Spanish) is preferred. Computer knowledge should include Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Excellent organizational, communication, problem solving and teamwork skills are required to provide adequate treatment to patients. Ability to work with multicultural and diverse population is required. 

$41,000 grant from Health Foundation to expand access to dental services            

Care Resource,South Florida’s oldest and largest nonprofit HIV/AIDS service organization,  pleased to announce the expansion of its dental clinic made possible with an award of $41,000 from Health Foundation of South Florida.  The award helps support additional staff, including a dental hygienist and dentist.

For over 17 years, the Holiday Lights atEnchanted Placehave dazzled and awedSouth Floridiansduring the holiday season. Located on NE 137th Terrace inNorth Miami, this amazing neighborhood light display is a ‘must see’ holiday tradition for families, groups of friends, church groups and social organizations.

Experience the spectacular holiday display as you drive through the streets, while volunteers will be having a merry-good time handing out candy and collecting essential donations that support Care Resource in the fight against HIV/AIDS.  You might even catch a glimpse of Santa Claus!  This event runs from December 3 – 31, from 6:00pm-11:30pm. There is no charge but donations are welcome. Care Resource is the beneficiary of this event.

World AIDS Day is held on December 1^st each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died from this disease. World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day.

Why is World AIDS Day important?

• Although HIV infection can be prevented, HIV transmission continues to occur at alarmingly high rates.   There are over 33.3 million people worldwide living with HIV/AIDS. ¹  In 2009 2.2 million adults worldwide were newly infected with HIV.²
• Although HIV can be treated, many people infected with HIV do not have access to life-saving drugs.
• Miami-DadeCountycurrently ranks number one in the nation, with the highest number of new AIDS cases per capita.
• BrowardCounty(Fort Lauderdale) currently ranks number two in the nation, with the 2nd highest number of new AIDS cases per capita.

World AIDS Day is an important reminder to the public that HIV has not gone away.  There is still much work to be done to increase awareness, prevention and treatment.

World AIDS Day is an opportunity for you to learn the facts about HIV and put your knowledge into action.
