WELCOME MASTER OF CEREMONIES
"SCOTT PADGETT"
METEOROLOGIST / ABC's LOCAL 10 MORNING NEWS
AIDS Walk Miami and Care Resource wish to
announce and welcome Scott
Padgett
as the Official Master of Ceremonies for the 24th Annual AIDS
Walk Miami fundraiser scheduled for Sunday, April 22nd.
Scott joined Local 10's weather team in April 2008. Like many
meteorologists, Scott's interest in weather started at an early age. He
still remembers watching thunderstorms near his home with amazement at
the force of the wind and the intensity of the lightning. His
fascination led to him studying meteorology at Western Illinois
University, where he graduated with a bachelor of science in
meteorology and a double minor in broadcasting and math.
Scott is both a member of the National Weather Association and the
American Meteorological Society. In 2006, he was awarded the Seal of
Approval of the American Meteorological Society. During his free time,
you can find Scott walking his Shih Tzu, Chloe, or behind his camera
continuing his love of photography. Working out is also something he
likes to do during his free time and hope that it will pay off with his
new found hobby, going to the beach.
Scott has a love of adventure and is looking forward to traveling all
across South Florida, eating the local cuisine and visiting with South
Floridians. He looks forward to greeting viewers on The Local News
mornings between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. and around town. If you see him,
don't hesitate to stop and say hello.
WELCOME "LOS IMPOSTORS"
DYNAMIC
ELECTRO-TECHNO DUO SET TO PERFORM LIVE 1 HOUR SHOW
AIDS Walk Miami and MTV Latin America wish to
welcome Los
Impostors to the post-walk celebration at the Miami Beach
Botanical
Gardens, directly following the Walk on Sunday, April 22nd.
Participants of the Walk will be treated to a special live 1 hour
performance
starting at 10:30am.
This Electro-Techno duo combined their skills in their first production
entitled 'Somos Duques'. It was their first audio visual project
proposal outlining their concept in music, art, design and video to
create this collective show.
Now they find that their complicity sparks out the same in this mighty
tribal landing (“Verte de mas”), in his routines almost rhythmic dance
floor ("Hey") and in its seductive nods to pop ("Affliction"). In 2011,
Los Impostors music was heard in the Latin campaign of the sports brand
'Puma'. This presentation was documented in HD Video and Audio 5.1 HQ,
and premiered in March through "Concert Channel HD".
The Impostors become the very first Latin artist, and proudly Mexican,
included as part of the programming of this channel which reaches over
43 countries including U.S., Canada, Europe and Australia as well as
Central and South America including the Caribbean islands. "Somos
Duques" adds to the programming of this channel, sharing in the day of
its release with the likes of performances from The White Stripes, Lily
Allen, Kaiser Chiefs, Pixies, Queen, Elton John, Tina Turner, Sting and
Extracts from the Glastonbury Festival 2010.
The duo has shared the stage with the likes of UNKLE, Chromeo, Justice,
Crystal Castles, Fisherspooner, Thievery Corporation, Shiny Toy Guns,
& Calle 13, and in the Festival 'South By Southwest "(SXSW) in
Austin, Texas. Los Impostors will also perform live at Bardot on April
18th in Miami. To visit their website, click the link above. To see

WELCOME MIAMI GAY MEN'S CHORUS
TO THE OPENING CEREMONIES OF AIDS WALK MIAMI
 Care Resource
wishes to welcome back the Miami Gay Men's Chorus to the opening
ceremonies of the 24th Annual AIDS Walk Miami.
Originally founded as the South Beach Gay Men's Chorus in 1999, the
Miami Gay Men's Chorus is an inclusive, community based organization of
gay men and supporting individuals that inspire and change lives
through the power of music.
Grown from 6 members to a group of more than 70, with members from as
far away as Florida City and North Broward County, the Miami Gay Men's
Chorus sing in complex rhythms and multiple harmonies and represent a
broad cross-section of the gay community ethnically and professionally.
Now in their 14th season, The Miami Gay Men’s Chorus is proud to once
again be part of the opening ceremonies of AIDS Walk Miami. On April
28th, find the Miami Gay Men's Chorus in their production of: "Insignia
Concert: New World Waking, A Call for Compassion" by Steve Schalchlin
at the Aventura Arts and Cultural Center in Aventura, Fl.
IMAGINE all the people living life in peace. Bullying, gay bashing,
self-hatred, trans-phobia, violence at home. On a wider scale, war in
the name of money, power, a higher power. Will it always be like
this? Music can cross all boundaries, all customs, all languages and
all creeds. This is a journey to find a song of perfect peace. This
peace found through the hands of caregivers, the restorers of life;
through community; through the power of music.
New World Waking! is a song cycle by Steve Schalchlin, inspired by an
opportunity to play John Lennon’s IMAGINE piano. Through this
journey - styled in pop, salsa, gospel and lowdown dirty blues -
Schalchlin brings us to the realization that we have the power to
effect change and that we are not alone in our desire and ability to do
so.

EDUCATING HANDS SCHOOL OF MASSAGE
TO HEAL
THE WAY YOU FEEL AFTER THE WALK
 Care Resource wishes to
welcome back Educating
Hands
School
of
Massage to the 24th Annual AIDS
Walk Miami post-walk celebration at the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens.
Educating Hands teaches that touch, the most basic form of
communication between humans, can provide nurturing and caring support,
rehabilitation from illness and injury and a sense of personal esteem
and value.
Massage Therapy, by nature a "touch" profession, brings to our modern
society a positive option to the distance and separateness inherent in
its cultural framework. Their mission has therefore been established to
support the personal and professional growth and wellness of each
person who chooses massage or other natural healing options to benefit
themselves and/or others, to teach the knowledge, skills and abilities
to successfully enter the massage profession while providing an
atmosphere that supports the personal development of each student, to
increase public awareness of massage as a profession and as a wellness
promoting therapy and to actively participate in and support
humanitarian causes through community service and volunteer efforts.
Be sure to stop by and visit the students from Educating Hands School
of Massage on your return to the Botanical Gardens after the walk to
receive a great massage. Please don't forget to thank them for all
their wonderful support!
WELCOME PALACE BAR
OFFICIAL
WATER STOP SPONSOR
FOR AIDS WALK MIAMI

Care Resource wishes to welcome back the Palace Bar on South Beach as
one of the official water stops along the route of the 24th Annual AIDS
Walk Miami.
Now in its 24th year as well, the Palace is the first and only gay
restaurant/bar on Ocean Drive. Located at 1200 Ocean Drive in the heart
of the Art Deco District, Palace has entertained countless men and
women for decades.
The Palace commissioned the creation of a Rainbow Pride flag, which was
presented to the City of Miami Beach GLBT Business Enhancement
Committee last year. The 50-pound flag, measuring 20 feet by 80 feet,
will be made available for use by other organizations, including Miami
Beach Gay Pride, of which Palace continues to play as a major sponsor.
The Miami Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce will house the
flag in its Visitors Center.
Palace’s legacy of infamous weekend drag shows, Sunday “Brunchic,”
luscious libations and mouth-watering burgers prevails today. Whether
gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual or straight, it is the place to be
on South Beach. For great times and great food, stop by the Palace on
your next trip to South Beach. For additional information, visit www.palacesouthbeach.com.
