Your support for the 2012 AIDS Walk Miami is more crucial than ever! HIV care and treatment is becoming increasingly effective today, however, new HIV infection rates in Miami-Dade and Broward still rank among the highest in the country. With recent cuts in federal funding, many people living in our community simply can not afford medical care and treatment and need our help. As a result of last year’s Walk, in 2011 Care Resource was able to: Service over 18,000 client encounters Deliver over 40,000 meals to home-bound clients Perform over 12,000 HIV and STD screenings Actively participate in 13 HIV/AIDS clinical trials Grow pediatric care and dental services If you have not already registered, please take this moment to register online today at aidswalkmiami.org and begin your efforts to help those who truly need our support. The top three teams are invited to lead off the walk from the Miami Beach Convention Center. The front line is always a great photo opportunity and company teams use this as a way to advertise their business' participation in AIDS Walk Miami by putting team members in matching corporate shirts. CONGRATULATIONS MTV STAYING ALIVE TEAM FOR A SUCCESSFUL RECRUITMENT PARTY This week, Care Resource staff attended a team sign up party at the offices of MTV for their "MTV Staying Alive" Walk Team. Congratulations to their Team Captain Xavier Romani and Co-Captain Marcela Costa for a very successful recruitment party. The staff was treated to a pizza party and a private screening. Care Resource staff assisted their efforts in the registration process and provided other information, collateral and a video presentation to motivate the staff. Great job and kudos to MTV Staying Alive for their efforts. They had 21 team members added to their Walk team. Don't fall behind the pack. REGISTER FOR THE WALK - YOUR WAY INDIVIDUAL, JUNIOR AND SLEEP WALKERS UNITE Life is about choices. Recognizing the various ways to participate at this year's event, AIDS Walk Miami has created several registration types to meet everyone's needs. From General Walkers to Student Walkers and Sleep Walkers, keep the pace and set your goals that fit you best. These types are: General Walker - This type is the default selection for participants who are encouraged to raise a minimum of $50 in order to receive a commemorative AIDS Walk Miami t-shirt on the day of the event. Junior Walker - This registration type is reserved for Elementary, Junior High and High School students only. The students are encouraged to raise a minimum of $25.00 in donations by the day of the walk in order to receive a commemorative AIDS Walk Miami t-shirt. Sleep Walker - Can't make it out of bed for the walk but still wish to help? Register as a "Sleep Walker" and you can help support Care Resource without being there! Raise at least $50.00 by the day of the walk and we will mail you your official AIDS Walk Miami t-shirt shortly after the event.
