Health Intervention Project:

If you are a man who has had sex with other men, intravenous drug user, or transgender person not practicing safer sex you may be at risk for HIV. The HIP (Health Intervention Project) program was developed to help you with anonymous or confidential counseling and safer sex practices, Hepatitis B and other Sexually Transmitted Infections information.

HIP is a mobile counseling and testing program where peer outreach educators distribute educational and informational materials, condoms and lubricants. Their goal is to reach the gay and transgender community to reduce the HIV infection rates, get information to those at risk and get help to those who test positive.

The program also implements a CDC Science-based intervention called P.O.L - Popular Opinion Leader - it is 3 to 4 community level intervention sessions aimed at identifying, enlisting and training key opinion leaders to encourage safer sexual norms and behaviors within their social networks through risk reduction conversations.

HIP also performs free and confidential HIV and Hepatitis B testing. This means that only you can get your results and those results are kept confidential. Counselors are also available to answer any questions about HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections and behavior modification.

Please check our calendar for testing dates and times.
