Direct
Client Services are aimed squarely
at meeting your needs directly, by providing food, transportation,
utility, rental/housing and nutritional services to you. Most of our
programming helps you to connect with other resources that
meet your individual needs.
Food For
Life Network – The only non-profit food bank exclusively
serving the HIV/AIDS community can provide up to three months of
groceries yearly through Ryan White and for those who qualify, an
additional three month of assistance may be available. The cities of
Miami Beach and North Miami Beach make these services available to
their residents through specific grants targeting their areas needs.
Home delivered meals are available to those receiving Medicaid Waiver
services and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) emergency food
assistance is available once yearly.
Transportation
– Working with a combination of funders, we can provide
public transportation. You may access this service through your case
manager. Simply ask if you qualify.
FEMA and
HOPWA – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grants
us yearly an amount aimed at helping anyone in Miami-Dade County with
rental, utility, food assistance. The grants are only available under
certain qualifying conditions and only until they are exhausted. So
check with your case manager to see if you qualify. Each year, the
Housing Opportunities for people with AIDS opens its waiting list to
accept new applicants (usually in February). Those who eventually are
accepted into the program receive rental subsidies and some receive
utility allowances to reduce the risk of homelessness. Ask your case
manager for an application when they become available.
Nutritional
Services – A core necessity to good HIV/AIDS Care is good
nutrition. Learning through individualized nutrition counseling or
through
attending group helps you to know to maximize your health through
learning to make nutritious choices. |
