Women have unique health issues. Some of the health issues that affect both men and women can affect women differently. Unique issues include pregnancy, menopause, and conditions of the female organs.
Women’s Health Care at Care Resource includes basic gynecological care (provided by our in-house primary care providers) voluntary family planning, health education, routine Pap smear and follow-up, breast cancer screening and referrals for specialty care services. Regular and specialized obstetrical care is provided through referrals.
According to Sheryl Zayas, DO, Medical Director with Care Resource, “Care Resource recognizes that women’s bodies differ from men’s in many subtle ways. We believe our patients have a right to high quality care that is comprehensive, compassionate and convenient. Our clinicians and staff are prepared to address your health needs – from adolescence to menopause and beyond.”
October is also Breast Cancer Awareness month. Breast cancer survival rates are climbing, thanks to greater awareness, more early detection, and advances in treatment. There are plenty of reasons to be hopeful. The earlier you find the disease, the easier it is to treat.
The American Cancer Society has stated that women with an average risk level should get a yearly mammogram beginning at age 45 and to continue them as long as you’re in good health. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force has stated that until you’re 50 – you should talk to your doctor about your need for testing. After that, get a mammogram every 2 years from age 50 to 74. You can work it out with your Care Resource provider.
Care Resource is most inspired by the ability to bring much needed healthcare services to vulnerable families and individuals in our South Florida community. Our dedicated Providers and staff go the extra mile each day to improve the overall quality of life of those who we serve in our communities and workplace.
