A Healthy Partnership that Links the Transgender Community to Care
On March 23, 2015, Care Resource honored and thanked key individuals for their commitment in supporting the educational programs and services of Care Resource and for their valuable contributions during our one-year partnership with “Talkin’ T”at FUSION located at 2304 NE 7th Avenue in Wilton Manors, Florida,
Care Resource has trail blazed this year with “Talkin T” a collaborative with the Broward Department of Health T-House and FREE Transgender Medical Vouchers by linking into care and psychotherapy many uninsured and underserved transgender patients, many have been successfully linked into our Sliding Fee Scale (SFS).
According to the National Transgender Discrimination Survey, conducted by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the National Center for Transgender Equality, the prevalence of suicide attempts is 41 percent. That is higher than the 10-20 percent of lesbian, gay and bisexual adults who reported ever attempting suicide.
Talkin T started with only 9 participants in 2015 and continued to grow. Care Resource’s Trans medical vouchers in Broward are now disbursed by T-HOUSE, SunServe, Latinos Salud (Broward and Miami), and Broward House and Survivors Pathway in Miami, linking their Transgender clients into medical care here.
FUSION is a safe space for gay and bi-sexual men of all races, ethnicities, and ages to meet, to learn, and to experience “Community.” FUSION provides a safe haven for men to talk about their lives and experiences, and it’s a place where men who love men can be affirmed and supported. FUSION is also a place where peers and subject matter experts collaborate to give men accurate and cutting-edge information about health, wellness and prevention.
Care Resource is uniquely positioned to assist transgender, transsexual and gender non-conforming individuals with their health care management needs and much more. Care Resource providers are trained in the management of hormone treatment and follow the guidelines set forth by the Endocrine Treatment of Transsexual Persons from the Endocrine Society.
Additionally, our therapists are State of Florida registered or licensed and meet the competency requirements for mental health professionals contained in the World Professional Association for Transgender Health Standards of Care.
In corporation with our service partners, Care Resource helps refer clients to name change clinics on specific dates/times for transgender individuals who are interested in legal name changes to align with their gender identity.
