Food-For-Life Partners with 9 Mile Festival – March 11, 2017

Care Resource and the Food-for-Life Network, Inc. are honored to announce their partnership with the 9 Mile Music Festival in together eliminating malnutrition and improving upon the health and overall quality of life of South Florida’s communities in need over the holidays.

In addition to the purchases of concert tickets for the 9 Mile Music Festival happening March 11, 2017, an event that will feature performances by reggae icons Julian Marley, Capleton, Sizzla and more, attendees must first donate four non-perishable food items such as beans, grits, pastas or cans of vegetables to the Food For Life Network’s food bank located at 3400 NE 2nd Avenue, Miami, Fl 33137. After the donation, the concert attendee will receive a token showing that the donation was made, to show at the entrance of the concert.

To further promote this initiative and to kick off the food-drive, Julian Marley, son of reggae legend Bob Marley and Grammy award nominated, roots-reggae musician, singer-songwriter and producer is making the first donation on Friday, December 16th at 11:00am, where he will be joined by Richard Booker, Bob Marley’s Brother and Director of Nine Mile Festival.  According to Marley, “Together we can make a difference for those who are less fortunate. United we stand, divided we fall.

Right now, the Food-for-Life Network, Inc. serves approximately 700 clients in Miami-Dade County. We see between 30-99 clients a day. Grocery packages are provided free of charge for our clients. Each one contains seven days’ worth of food. Home delivered meals and groceries are available for those who qualify. Clients with dependent children are provided additional food items to allow them to feed their dependent children, ensuring adequate food for the HIV infected parent.” – Valjean Brookins, Food Services Supervisor with the Food for Life Network.
